Mission
Supporting disabled artists in creative expression, representation and community partnerships.
About
In 2011, Live Yes Studios (LYS) opened in Lincoln, Nebraska as a program under a large nonprofit based in Philadelphia, PA. Without a gap in programming, LYS separated from its parent company and opened as a Nebraska-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation on July 1, 2024.
Live Yes Studios, Inc. is the only progressive art studio in Nebraska, specializing in fine and performing arts instruction. Monday through Friday, we support adults (19+) with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) from Lincoln and surrounding areas. Employing local artists, LYS instructors create an inclusive, professional studio environment to foster creative careers, promote professional development, and provide exhibition opportunities. In 2023, LYS was recognized for its quality arts programming and received the Mayor’s Arts Award for Most Outstanding Arts Organization.
Each day, two classes are taught by our instructors and volunteer community members. Artists have the choice to join class or use the studio to pursue their individual creative interests. Our studio includes studio space for ceramics, music production, printmaking, sculpture, textiles, podcast and music room.
Located at 1121 M Street in Lincoln, NE.
Creative Expression We employ local artists to teach visual and performing arts classes and assist artists in their pursuit of self-directed creative projects for personal and artistic development. Our professional studio environment provides a space for artists to access the supplies, tools and equipment necessary to pursue their creative interests.
Representation We exhibit and promote the artists’ work in our gallery during monthly First Friday events and work with local and regional galleries for more exhibition opportunities. Our monthly art events create opportunities for artists to share their perspective and connect with the community. In 2019, LYS opened a gift shop for each artist to design and print their own mugs, shirts, coasters, bags, etc. and sell them in our gift shop. Artists receive a commission from every art and merchandise sale.
Community We are dedicated to community integration and building relationships through art. We welcome the community into our gallery to enjoy the works of LYS artists. Exhibitions connect hundreds of community members to the artists as their viewers, patrons and clientele and offer opportunities for relationships and collaborations. In 2018, LYS created a community gallery to also exhibit emerging community artists. Community artists are invited to give an artist lecture or workshop. All LYS events are free, open to the public and family friendly.
